choosing a blogging platform

i’ve been wanting to blog for a long time now. to practice and improve my ability of explaining things, to keep track of what i’ve been up to or to document problems or challenges that I have and that someone might have a solution to.

also for a long time this decision has been delayed by the agony of choice of which platform and which technology to use. as i’m writing this right now also the choice of language is something i’m not quite settled with. english might suit my thoughts about technology better, while german might be suited for personal topics.

but you have to start somewhere and for this first iteration i’ve settled on bear blog. i like the frictionless experience and enjoy not having to choose which static site generator to use, decide whether i need a cms, where to host the website or how to serve media in an efficient way.

while this meta blog post about blogging doesn’t tell much, i hope the next ones will make up for it =)
