iphone 17 pro review
my phone contract was due for renewal earlier this year. i absolutely loved my iphone 13 mini that i have had since 2022 for its compact size, but the missing zoom capabilities on the rear camera made me dislike to take photos with it. additionally the battery, albeit recently replaced, was not keeping up which made me either be out of battery in the mid of the day or always think about bringing a cable or external battery with me.
given that i need to have a mobile phone contract with a decent amount of cellular data on the go, i settled for a contract that comes alongside a phone and decided to try out the iphone 17 pro. mainly for having a better camera while still staying in the apple ecosystem to simplify migrating to a new phone. one day i‘d also like to try out alternatives that support grapheneos, but this time the hassle of changing the os was too big.
there‘s not much to say about this phone. the pros are the amazing camera, the larger 120hz screen, a battery that actually lasts all day long and better sounding speakers. the front camera that follows you around on video calls is also a funny gimmick.
the cons are the camera control button, that i accidentally hit about 5 times a day and trigger visual search with, the bigger footprint, and the feeling that i‘m using my phone more than i‘d like to.
i don’t think i’ve ever been more happy with a purchase. this device really feels like a „final“ or finished brick style phone and there’s nothing that could make the experience of using the phone daily more enjoyable. the pictures i take are great, the battery makes me forget about powerbanks and using the phone is all in all a very smooth experience.
